The Trouble With Loyalty to the Cause Is That the Cause Will Always Betray You
Monday, Mar 23, 2015, 2:48 PMThat's a line from Lockdown in Transformers: Age of Extinction. It is also the same line that I am entertaining in my head right now. The more I roll the words out, the more I find myself in agreement with the said villain (well, I'll never agree to how he drove a sword into Prime though).
My mom is currently serving for a cause and as family, we support her. If you were looking at the experience from the outside, it might look relatively simple. However, try to dip your foot into the water and soon you'll find out that there's a lot more than what's on the surface. Backstabbing, rumor-mongering, verbal and emotional abuse, false accusations, personal attacks: these are just a few of the things that she eats in lieu of a proper breakfast. In my own opinion, the parties guilty of these do not deserve the service that my mom is doing for them. I have lost faith in the cause a long time ago because if it runs at the expense of my mother's well-being, then go find yourself someone else to throw dirt at. Mirrors are best for this exercise.
I fail to see how some draw satisfaction from planting seeds of evil in their neighbors' hearts. I fail to understand why there are humans who are capable of formulating preposterous, baseless accusations. I fail at pinpointing which part of "you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" is unclear.
Or maybe I did not fail completely. Because I have come to realize that perhaps those who can conjure such evil thoughts are the ones who are equally willing to act them out.
To the people whose names populate my mind as I write this post, be glad that my conscience has not yet betrayed me.

Ateneo Bomb Threat
Wednesday, Feb 12, 2014, 9:02 PMThese past few weeks, I have been spending some time walking around Ateneo, taking in the marvelous view of the campus in an attempt to fully commit it to my brain -- the vernal grass decorating the sidewalks, the chartreuse butterflies near Schmitt in the morning, the sunlight peeking through the branches of the trees in SOM forest at 7:20 AM, and the numerous brick roads that lead me from one class to the next. Aside from these bits of nature, the varying designs of the buildings look equally refreshing. But more refreshing than anything are the people with whom I spend my time in there. Ah, senioritis perhaps.
When I received the text message from ADMU regarding the bomb threat, I couldn't help but imagine what the campus would be like if one did blow up in there *knock on wood* and then it made me realize how much I have been taking it for granted during my four-year stay there. I'm glad it's not too late. And I hope that such a threat would not happen again.
