Welcome to my blog! My name is Psylocke Gaffud Antonio. I am 24 years, 4 months, 3 weeks, 0 days, 9 hours, 42 minutes, 23 seconds old (whew!) and I have a great mom, a cool dad, and a cute sister. I learned HTML & JavaScript when I was 7 years old and have been coding stuff ever since. I'm now building my PHP skills by helping develop MAJ, the software that powers this blog.

Oops, click here if you are looking for sites about Elisabeth "Betsy" Braddock AKA Psylocke, the X-Men's "Asian by way of Britain" telepath whom I was named after. Otherwise, enjoy!

Respect is a word which means far more than one may be of concern. It is not just about being polite and courteous, but rather more of the way you look at an individual as a whole.

There are two kinds of respect : automatic and earned. These are what I would like to focus on here.

Automatic respect is, as the name itself says, given to everyone - especially to our elders. We are to respect everyone simply because they are also part of God's creation just like us. Automatic respect is a part of our composition as a human being. We don't give it by choice. We're just obliged to do so.

On the other hand, earned respect is not a matter of duty, which makes it the better of the two. It is by one's own choice whether he or she would want to bestow such on someone. Nobody is restricted to not give it out. Simply put, if I don't want to -- sorry. It's a privilege, not a responsibility.

There are many reasons why earned respect is withdrawn. It is mostly because of the personality or way of living of the person involved. It may also be because of his/her unwise decisions in life. Having no reason to be given respect tops the list.
